According to the statement from Yuga Labs, this decision was motivated by the evolution of the project and its “emergence in pop culture”. whose success is mainly due to the community. With this in mind, the members of this new council have all already participated closely in this community enthusiasm in the past:
“This board has been formed with the intention of representing the club as a whole and providing a fresh perspective. The council, and future councils to come, establishes a more formal, efficient and consistent process for Yuga leaders to obtain community feedback and guidance on an ongoing basis. »

What will the advice be used for?
Yuga Labs’ press release states that this board will be completely independent and autonomousand will bring its skills together with the feedback from the communities of the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the Mutant Ape Yacht Club in order to concretize the ideas deemed interesting.
The work will mainly focus on the evolution of BAYC through the Web3 ecosystemand the members of the council will have to participate in the evolution of community initiatives such as meetings, charitable donations deemed relevant, commercial projects or any other idea that can help to enlarge the aura of the collections.
Of course, following the announcement of this decision, some were surprised not to have been chosen. Some community members were particularly surprised by the absence of @notthreadguy, a particularly active BAYC holder.
Moreover, the reactions have been mixed: some people are delighted with this autonomous mode of operation and that it was “the characteristic of Web3”, while others complain that the Yuga Labs teams chose the members themselves. advice rather than going through a community vote.
