During a conference on the metaverses, the Innovation Director of the Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) company announced the forthcoming launch of a collection of NFTs. Backed by real horses, these NFTs will be usable in a video game-like metaverse.

The PMU soon in the metaverse
During a round table on the subject of metaverses, Constantin Garreau, the Director of Innovation of the Pari Mutuel Urbain company (PMU)announced the future release of a collection of horse-themed non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Available within a few weeks, these horse-looking NFTs will be backed by real racehorses. As a result, their actual performance will impact the virtual qualities of NFTs.
In other words, the function of these NFTs is not only aesthetic. Horses will be usable in a video game-like metaverse. For this reason, PMU seeks to collaborate with gaming companies to create a real game, as Constantin Garreau points out:
” [Il faut] consider that the game also becomes a container, and no longer just a content, in which brands will have to bring something to life for their customers”
PMU’s ambition is therefore to create a new entertainment service in a rather playful form to attract new customers. In this context, this game could serve as Sales channel to attract new prospects.

A diversification of the PMU to come?
Last August, the CEO of PMU, Emmanuelle Malecaze-Doublet, was already studying the possibility of a future horse racing game in the metaverse. According to her, successful companies in the Web3 are those that connect objects from the virtual world to the physical world :
“We have been working on new games for several months. These include NFT, Metaverse, and Web3. […] I’ll meet you in a few months to talk about games where, for example, when you have the avatar (NFT) of a racehorse, you could win depending on the arrival of real races. »
This diversification of PMU services, from sports betting to video games, will have significant economic consequences on the company’s income.
But to succeed in its bet, the company must understand how to create a stable economic model. generating regular revenue in the gaming sectoras Constantin Garreau points out:
“We need to think about how we transform this into a sustainable business model. Very quickly, if we are able to apply an economy in the video game, it can very quickly generate several tens, even hundreds of millions of euros in revenue. So [cela peut] become something that has a real impact and that allows you to move from this phase of betting to something that is fundamentally the game.”
With its future game, PMU is therefore trying to hold its own against many economic players trying to find a place in the world of metaverses. But for now, we have to be patient : no official date has been confirmed by the company.
