Financial services are democratizing in Africa
Strike, a mobile payment application based on the Lightning Network, has just unveiled its new feature. Named ” Send Globally », it allows transfers instantly and free of charge to the African continent.
To succeed in this bet, Strike has partnered with the Bitnob payment platform to streamline the experience of its users. In addition, during a transfer, the money sent is directly converted into the predefined local currency of the country and sent to Bitnob wallet or bank account.
In his press release, the company insists on removing transfer fees in their service. In addition, one of the goals promoted by the company is the democratization of financial services for all, as Bitnob CEO Bernard Parah points out:
“People can now easily exchange value from the United States to people in Africa in the cheapest way possible. We can now save people sending money home to Africa billions of dollars in transfer fees. »
For the moment, this service is available to US citizens and covers Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria. However, there is no information that the service works in the opposite direction, from African countries to the United States.
Creation of such a service is beneficial for the democratization of the Web3 ecosystem : with Strike, blockchain technology demonstrates the uses and benefits it can bring to local populations.
