PayPal attacks a democratic party in China
PayPal HKthe Hong Kong branch of the American company PayPal, has closed the account of the League of Social Democrats (LSD) from Hong Kong.
The information was communicated directly by the pro-democracy political party on Facebook, which itself would have received a simple email from the rather vague platform:
“After reviewing your account, we determined that the risks involved were too great. […] this matter has been fully considered and our decision is final. »
In addition, no details of the “risks” mentioned here have been given by PayPal.
According Chow Ka-fatthe vice-president of LSD, the group is no longer able to receive donations via PayPal since the receipt of the email, but would still be able to withdraw the funds raised so far by this means.
He also insisted on highlight the bias of today’s businesses :
“It seems that even when doing business, companies need to think ahead about who they are dealing with. This sort of entrepreneurial freedom of the past has apparently disappeared. »
