Solana Labs presented a plug-in that will allow reading data from the Solana blockchain (SOL) from ChatGPT, but also interacting with the network. Can artificial intelligence facilitate the adoption of cryptocurrencies?

Earlier this week, Solana Labs, in charge of developing the Solona blockchain (SOL), unveiled the upcoming release of a plugin for OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot :
(1/2) Solana Labs has created an open-source reference implementation for a ChatGPT plugin that lets users interact with the @solana network directly from ChatGPT.

Although this plugin is still under construction, it should allow not only to read data from the blockchain, but also to interact with it.
The possibilities are therefore relatively broad, users should then be able to ask ChatGPT for the details of what an address contains, just as they can ask to make transactions.
As shown in the example prompt below, the chatbot is asked for help in buying a specific non-fungible token (NFT). ChatGPT then gives a link to sign the transaction to finalize it from a Web3 wallet:
Example of a prompt asking ChatGPT for help buying an NFT
If no release date has yet been revealed for the plug-in, the developers are however invited to come and test the code made available on GitHub.

Limits and opportunities of such an innovation
In the version as presented, however, the plug-in offered by Solana Labs could show some obstacles for use by novice investors. Indeed, the fact of having to indicate a very specific smart contract address is not within everyone’s reach at first glance, if you do not know how to use a blockchain explorer beforehand.
On this point, decentralized exchanges (DEX) and the various marketplaces can be easier to use. In addition, users will have to be attentive to the accuracy of their prompt, at the risk to see ChatGPT redirect them to results other than those expected.
On the other hand, when it comes to blockchain mining, it may actually be easier to fetch data this way, by asking ChatGPT directly what you want rather than getting lost on a blockchain explorer when you’re not used to it.
Moreover, it must be recognized that Solana’s blockchain explorers such as Solscan or Solana Explorer are much poorer in data than those of blockchains compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), starting with Etherscan. for Ethereum (ETH).
This point was also underlined in the comments under the tweet of the announcement, where a user asks, for example, that Solana Labs starts by providing a working blockchain explorer :
Good place to start would be replicating all the charts & data available on etherscan for Solana
6h max time frames aren’t super useful
An accurate source for circulating SOL supply from network launch would also be excellent. No good free source of historical data exists for… pic.twitter.com/xaKRxauwPa

Despite everything, the idea of using artificial intelligence to navigate blockchains remains very relevant, and there is no doubt that features similar to such tools are expected to develop in the future.

I timidly discovered the world of blockchain at the end of 2018 during my quest for financial freedom. Initially invested moderately, it was only two years later that I took the gamble of betting everything on the movement that was taking shape then. I then dedicate 2021 to training myself better to acquire more knowledge and seriousness. As I often like to say: I still have a billion things to learn. And what I do know, I want to share with you.
